Sorry for the long lapse since the last post!  My schedule has (thankfully) been hectic the last few months…and from the looks of things, it won’t be slowing down as we approach summertime!  I recently completed mixing the Karmacy “Wooden Bling” album which was a lot of fun.  All the members live in different areas, so I was REALLY glad to have my FTP server to bounce mixes back and forth.  My buddy Hans did a wonderful job mastering the album so the group could press up CDs just in time for their Bay Area album release party this weekend!  Phew…we just made it.  For those of you in the L.A. area, the group will be hosting their charity/album release down here on June 27th.  Check http://www.bethecause.org/calendar/event.php?id=6442 for more info.

Ok…gear talk time!  After waiting for about 11 months…I just took delivery of a Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor.  This has to be the new highlight of my studio…and the beast looks about as intimidating as it’s name (think Darth Vader in a rack)!  Unfortunately it arrived just after I wrapped up the Karmacy project…but I’m lookin’ forward to gettin’ busy with this thing for both tracking and mixing.  In short it’s kind of like having four compressors in one box (think two LA2As and two SSL Buss Comps).  But it doesn’t stop there…you have three different choices of output transformers that change the sound from clean to colored.  Very cool…and I can’t wait to dig in!!
